First problem is due to ~15 degree angle down from rudder horn, thimbel is shaving off edge of wide area washer.
This you see is only about a dozen stop to stop cycles.
It sounds terrible.
I am sure it will wear to not point load so much, but it will rust and probably be a maintenance item besides causing extra friction.
