For Landing LED, we are going to try AeroSun's 1600 on the other outrigger. Smaller width, bout same height as the Kuntzleman with heat sink, but it will be at a greater angle of attack when gear is retracted compared to the Kuntzleman Taxi LED. I think net frontal area will be bout the same. Fairing will help. Amp draw on the AreoSun 1600 is 1.8 amps. Because the width is narrower than the Kuntzleman, I think the drag when the gear is down will be approx. the same as well. Often at night out East on Long Island there are deer standing on the runway! Buzz to scare em away come around and land. We are looking for a little more distance for Landing illumination than could another Kuntzleman that would be optimum aimed for Landing. We are very pleased with what the Kuntzleman LED has to offer for our Taxi LED.
