If you were to put 12 volts to LED direct you would most likely burn the LED out instantly. The supplied harness has a regulator to drop voltage. Chuck Rhoads (a Europa owner) has J.C. Whitney LEDs installed and has problem with noise when transmitting. I did a quick test on Pepboys LED putting my Vertex VXA-700 near this regulator and BINGO, it's noisy. Of course we also tested running on supplied Lithium battery and things were dead silent. Since there was a wad of aluminium foil in the trash (left over from chasing strobe noise) and wrapped the entire harness, no change at all.

"LED high intensity elements are often pulsed to achieve higher output within thermal constraints hence RFI" so it is possible that is what they are doing.
