Series 6 cable specifications 1 of 2
Speaking with Cory, if you order a 4" travel cable, the cable you get should have a minimum of 4" travel, but could be up to 4+5/16". I think he was saying that your cable can come in minimum the size you order, but could be longer if the travel ends up being more, thus you could get a cable end to end that is 5/16" longer than you ordered.
I ordered a Series 6 cable 57+13/16" in length (57.813" long). I highly recommend you put longer air-brake cable in situation with rear mount installed and length replicating the 4" specifications and measure your bird. It may be slightly different from mine. Cost was $96 plus UPS Ground to Long Island NY a TTL. of $108.00

UPDATE ON CABLE LENGTH Y13-12-15:
After diddling with things for a few weeks, the length 57.813" is a bit too short.
I needed to install a coupler and threaded rod on the front to lengthen allowing for 9.5 threads of engagement of the 5/16-24 threaded ends.
The length I would order is 58.475" (tip of threaded rod to tip of threaded rod) of Series 6 cable with 4" of travel. The aft side would need to be cut down to .700" (by you, don't forget to make chamfer at a 45 degree angle so the first thread is not super flimsy).
See other Albums to describe aft pillow block and thread extender.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Keep in mind since the pillow block is close to the rear lift pin tie-bar, thus keeping the pillow block as far aft as you can is the thing to do. Since there is .312" of threads sticking out of the rear male threaded cable (this is with Heim fitting bottomed and jam nut installed), my cable length I ordered is actually .312" longer than I need because I'm going to hack off .312" on the aft side threaded rod.
You will notice the "B" dimension is mid bulkhead threads to the end of the male threaded rod at mid travel. That's 9.500" on a 4" travel according to the spec. sheet. I subtracted 1/2 the travel and came up with 7.500". So with the cable fully pushed forward, the dimension I used for my rear mount was 7.5" anticipating lopping off .312".
When I ordered the cable I asked that at least one side of my cable would be no more than 7.500". Anyway I will install that side that is no more than 7.500" on the aft side (after I cut off .312").
Quick note on cutting off something threaded:
The threads have a 60 degree angle on them. If after you cut off and shorten the length, if you were to sand, grind or file a 60 degree taper on the end, it will leave a wicked sharp and easy to distort first thread. It's a "Much More Better" plan to make a 45 degree taper! This way the sharp edge is reduced.
Cable arrived Y13-12-03.
With 2 extra nuts and 2 extra lock washers (probably not be using these, so it should be a bit lighter),
weight comes in at:
1 lb. 10.3 oz. (will weigh completed assembly just before final install).
Deflection is probably 8 degrees in every direction. Probably double the deflection (or more) compared to the air-brake cable.
One side came in a little less than my requested no more than 7.5". One aspect that accomplished this task was by threading the aluminium close to the crimp.
The throw comes in at a little over 4".
Overall length is very close to what I requested of 57.813" tip to tip.
