Decided that, since the port door fit so well, I'd go ahead and put in the fuselage bolt shoot guides. Had to locate the proper location for the guides. Did that by taping a piece of carbon paper on the door frame in the area where the bolt shoot will enter. Then, making sure the door was properly closed and aligned, ran the bolt shoots out to strike the carbon paper. This left nice marks on the door frame showing where the bolts would go. Got out the step drill and drilled 3/4" holes for the guides. Having done that, I remembered that there were reinforcements mentioned in the instructions. Well poop... Checked and, sure enough, four-ply layups of BID were supposed to be applied to the insides of the door frames. Each ply was to be 30 mm x 30 mm. That's 1.18" x 1.18" - like, why bother?? Oh well, they want reinforcement, I'll do it. Cut 16 pieces 2"x2" (might as well make them worthwhile). Scuff sanded the areas where the layups will go. Mixed up the epoxy to do the layups. Laid up four plies of 2"x2" BID on each of the four bolt-shoot locations. Port side front (shown) and aft.
