Doubled over about 1.5 cm of the end and then doubled over about 2.5 cm to make a fold in the end with three layers. The raw end on the inside. Used an awl to open a hole between the threads for a rivet to pass through. Used a washer on the other side and pulled the rivet. Didn't get the thread count right for rivet placement on this first one.
