Bonded two plies of BID to the damaged area. Made sure I had at least 2" (5 cm) of BID around all sides of damage. Area to the fore & aft, the BID went to front and rear-most extent of the floor. Continued to apply medium heat from the heat gun while I piddled around with other things for a while.
