You can see the dampener at the tip of my thumb. It is a thin piece of metal. I am not sure if it extends when tension is released from a gas charge, or if there is an internal spring. No matter it has quite the dampening force to prevent drawer slamming.

The trip on the left side of pic is about to trip the lever on the right side of pic that will release stroed up energy and close drawer.

Slider is now fully closed.
This device takes a drawer that is nearly shut and pulls it all the way closed and holds it there.

Art brought to hangar a drawer closer for show and tell tonight.
I believe concept may have some validity if incorporated in Europa gull wing door to defeat gas spring tension in the closed position that causes door warping.
Here you see drawer slider at full extension.
It closes the drawer the last bit very smooth with a reasonable authority.
