Second pass 2
By perfectly positioning FL 16s in place (clamped to flap cross tube lugs) and with my two black Nylon stand off set of washers, FL 18s will be perfectly positioned with FL16s.
In other words we're using FL 16s as bonding jigs.
FL 18s rotate around their pivot point.
Having the tops of both FL18s parallel to each other using my arrangement is not buying anything, so we just rotated FL 18s back side down around its pivot (perfectly positioned pivots) until it hit the fuse.
I was going to see how parallel they were for ha, haas, but fuel lines and dip in cross tube got in the way of EZ.
NOTE:
We needed to trim the front of our FL 18s to allow proper positioning, leaving 1 hole diameter of meat remaining and reshape the pivot arm (maintained the same nice radius going to front edge to reduce stress risers as Europa did).
Our flaps have 2 mixing sticks as spacers between the front leading edge and the wing. Bud says he leaves 5/16" gap. This would account for pivot being a little forward in our case.
Another good tip from Bud, our flap cross tube is very close to the aft side of the cockpit module. Bud says he never drills the flap drive pin according to the manual until he is sure the flap cross tube will clear the aft side of the cockpit module. If things are close, he will drill drive pin hole more aft.
