Here I am holding the, (removable), D-sub 90 degree shell. Wiring needs to exit aft while allowing you to somehow be able to secure aft screw. I looked at a lot of shells and discovered quickly the pickings are slim at best for 50 pin 90 degree shells.
I selected the one you see and modified it:
**Instead of using supplied slotted screw, I am using #4 stainless hex cap head screws that have a patch of adhesive to act as a thread locker. Since I like wearing suspenders and a belt just in case, I also have a #3 star washer under the head (#4 star washer fit is a bit too sloppy for my liking). to hold cap screw in position when installing upside down, I installed #4 plastic quad point retaining washers to hold cap head screw to D-sub.
** I dealt with the problem of how to tighten the aft screw, (covered with wires exiting aft), by purchasing a precision thin walled piece of stainless tubing from McMaster, heat shrinking the tube where wires will pass by it and secured it in place with JB KWIK weld. Didn't bond before scuff sanding plastic and stainless with 80 grit first though.
