The black Chrome bezeled LED from Newark comes in Sunlight readable and Non-Sunlight readable. For a warning LED just too directional and many indicators are just above knees or not in direct line of vision. Will use a few Newark indicators for non-crucial indications.
Now for Oil pressure and the two TCU warning LEDs, will use the 4 cluster very bright LEDs from Advance Auto Parts. They throw so much light that the tips glows acceptable, if installed in direct vision they would blind you. They come mounted on a little PC board with resistors to work on 12V. The LEDs don't have a step at base so can drill 4 holes and slidemin with back flush with back of panel insert.
For single LEDs, will be using PepBoys LEDs (they come 3 in a pack). They happen to be a little longer than most LEDs without a step, being longer that allow tip to glow at an acceptable level.
Have quite the assortment of LEDs and lights on hand from various sources, but above are the winners.
