After much flailing about which shall not be documented here, I went back to the double puck brake and spent a couple days trying to bleed the new system. Without much luck. I called Robby at Grove Aircraft and he pointed out that if there were any high spots in the brake line, the air would remain trapped there. Yup, TWO high spots to be exact. So I cut the ties, removed the caliper and laid it all out straight up to the master cylinder. Connected the brake bleed apparatus and commenced to run fluid into the system. Used a syringe to remove fluid from the reservoir as it filled. After removing four full syringes worth of fluid, bubbles! Lots of bubbles. When the bubbles stopped it closed it up and tested it. Much better! A firm brake lever.
