Bending a joggle into the door handles. It is not clear where or how much exactly you need to joggle, so here´s hoping for the best.

Punching holes in the door plate. Just over 3 grams of metal removed. So what, you may well ask. Well, on the NH90 helicopter (10 tons) we were looking for weight savings down to 2,5 grams.

Marking out the cuts in the door, using masking tape as suggested in the manual. The tape also helps to keep the drill centred.

The aluminium parts were all nicely primered at Fokker, but since I have already settled on not having a green interior, I spray paint the latches.

On the port side I find that some Yorkshireman either had a fight with his wife on the day of manufacture, or just has a fetish for Redux. This will have to come out first.

Test fit of the latch assembly. I had meticulously cut the holes to the exact specs of the Manual, but does that mean the latch will fit? Is the Pope Jewish? Cutting further is the only option.
TIP: the lug on the plate can be sanded down considerably. In fact it will never fit in the door otherwise.

According to the manual you should put the spindle in the plate and then put on the handle. It really is a tight fit so to get it on and avoid the slop you are warned against, I bash it on first.

TIP: I find that the forward shootbolts are both exactly 1 cm too short, despite (I think!) following the instructions to the letter. Solution is to order new bar and remake them. If you are making the doors, double check this first.
