Scuff sanded the recesses.

Cut a dozen 2"x4" pieces of BID (3 for each hinge area) to go under and over the pieces of plywood. Mixed up a tiny batch of epoxy/FLOX to fill in the edges. Mixed up a larger batch of epoxy and laid up the BID, 3 pieces at a time on a strip of polyethylene. Painted a piece of the plywood with epoxy. Painted the recess area with epoxy. Laid the plywood piece on the BID layup and folded the BID over the top of the plywood. Pressed the plywood with layups into each rebate area and covered it with a strip of peel-ply. Completed this for all four hinge recess areas.
Covered each area with a small sheet of polyethylene and put a clamp on to hold it all down and in place while it cures.
